Donna Mitchell, student in the Medical Coding program, was awarded the Student Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Health Information Management Association at the Senior Dinner in May. Donna was honored for her academic curiosity, academic achievements, and consistent contributions to the Laboure learning community.

Donna is excited about her new career in Health Information Technology, saying, "Two years ago, I thought it was time for a career change. That is when I thought a career in medical coding might be for me. I met with Laboure College’s HIT Chairperson to discuss their Medical Coding Program. At that time, I was invited to join current students and alumni at an upcoming HIT Career Night. Both events confirmed that I was headed in the right direction.”

Sherisse Monteiro, 2011 graduate of Laboure's HIT program, presented the award for MaHIMA as their Awards Chair.

Congratulations, Donna!
