On June 4, 2015, Labouré College will honor the first-ever winners of the Compassionate Patient Care Awards. From hundreds of nominations, the following Massachusetts nurses were selected: Susan Rooney of Massachusetts General Hospital, Mary Theresa Flanagan of Milton Hospital, Nicholas Barry of Franciscan Hospital for Children, and Jeremy Engleken of Boston ĢƵ for the Homeless.

The Compassionate Patient Care Award was created to honor those who exemplify the kind of nurses and healthcare professionals Labouré College seeks to graduate - ones who treat their patients with extraordinary care and compassion. Cheryl Kane, director of nursing at the McInnis House for Boston Health Care for the Homeless said, The Labouré graduates who work at Boston Health Care for the Homeless are some of the most compassionate nurses I’ve had the pleasure of working with.”

The curriculum at Labouré College emphasizes high-quality patient care and compassion in both general education courses and clinical experiences. Hands-on patient care experiences broaden students’ horizons with opportunities to serve diverse populations across eastern Massachusetts. Alumna Lisa Lam, graduate of the radiation therapy program, said, admired my instructors and clinical supervisors at Labouré College because they demonstrated the type of therapist I wanted to become - caring, compassionate, and professional.”

We are privileged to educate the future healthcare workers of Massachusetts and honored to team up with hockey legend Ray Bourque, and comedian Lenny Clarke to celebrate the winners of the 2015 Compassionate Patient Care Awards. If you would like to join us for this event, please go to http://laboure.edu/events for ticket information. All proceeds will go to assist high-achieving nursing and healthcare students struggling to afford their tuition.
